naan bullets

Twenty-four hours from now (it’s 7:00 am…who blogs at this hour?) I will be at the starting line of the Southern Plunge Marathon. Booyah. Anthony and I went to Himalayan Heritage last night — probably our favorite restaurant in DC — to load up on rice and naan. Nom.

I have to pack and go meet Melanie for a pumpkin spice latte, so here’s a quick list of stuff I would write more about if I had time:

PRE-RACE IS:

  • Drinking a ton of water/tea/anything
  • Eating a ton (but not tooooo much)
  • Sleeping a ton
  • Letting everyone wish you good luck
  • Crafting a 3:30 playlist
  • Charging every electronic you own
  • Stressing over a race day outfit (and also, a wedding outfit — have I mentioned that Anthony and I are also going to a wedding tomorrow, after the race? I might collapse)
  • Praying over your sneakers

POST-RACE IS:

  • Drinking a ton
  • Eating a ton
  • Sleeping a ton
  • Letting everyone congratulate you
  • Wiping off an iPod covered in Gu/sweat
  • Taking a long, long shower
  • Donating your sneakers (mine are definitely ready to go)
  • Limping away proudly
  • Hanging out with friends and family
  • Eating a ton x2 (plus wedding cake!)

And THAT is why I am so excited to run marathons. Catch you post-race!
