minutes per mile blog

My latest workout: part running, part ice skating.DSC03803I didn’t know that Tennessee could sink to seven degrees, but it did yesterday! Wow. That was one cold run.DSC03807I went with a long-sleeved shirt, a heavy outer jacket, leggings, two pairs of socks, three pairs of gloves, a head warmer, and hood. I also wore my Oakleys because it was surprisingly bright outside. And because I’m a diva.DSC03804The sunglasses also helped protect my eyes from the chill — at some windy points, the burn made me tear up like a baby!

But somehow in my crazy mind, it was still a good run. DSC03805After my icy adventure, I took Anthony to the airport. Since our master mixologist and co-master deep fryer is gone, we were seriously lacking in booze and grease last night._DSC0304Simple grilled fish and veggies, served with a side of corn and The Bachelor.Doesn’t get better than that.

  • What’s the coldest run you’ve ever run?
  • Bachelor fans: Juan Pablo: yay or nay?

  1. I can’t believe you went for a run in that cold! No, that’s a lie I can believe you did, but I don’t understand why you would. I don’t think Juan Pablo’s socks go very well with his outfit. He should have a solid tie on if he’s going to wear colorful/patterned socks.

      • Minutespermile strikes again in real life applications! My coworker just asked me if I knew what this weird symbol is on something she was reading. I knew for certain that it was an ampersand because it kind of looks like “Et” and not the usual & because that’s how ampersands look on your font on the blog. Thanks for the help.

  2. The coldest run I’ve ran was probably 20 degrees. Any colder than that and I’m a complete chicken. Well obviously Portillo’s is the best place to eat in Chicago but there is a lovely Sweet Berry cafe in South Elgin that is amazing! The best breakfast ever! And you should always opt for pizza in Chicago! :)

  3. JP is Juan in a million! :) I’ve been running in the mornings here in DC – yeah, it be cold. But, git ‘er done! It makes you feel a bit badass to run when everyone is so scared to go outside. :)

  4. Went on a 14 mile run last Saturday through the snow/ice … Maybe 10 degrees? Painfully cold outside and my knee has been killing me since! Not my smartest idea.

Nay on Juan Pablo … But I will still continue to religiously watch the show.

Chicago – SO many great places … My favorite bakery in the world: http://sweetmandybs.com/ … Great Italian (and GREAT bread): http://www.osteriaviastato.com/ … And you should probably check out Eataly: http://www.eataly.com/eataly-chicago/ … They have a nutella bar! Enjoy your trip!
