minutes per mile blog

keeping it classic

Good morning! After yesterday’s epic weekend recap, I’m back with the usual rundown.0602150643Since I have a race this Saturday, I pushed my usual Thursday track workout to Tuesday. And was happy to see that there was a small group of other runners at the track, too! Apparently a new group started meeting there on Tuesday mornings — free and open to anyone. I think I might start going on Tuesdays from now on!

On the menu: 7 x 800 (1-minute standing rest between each rep). I think that 6-8 x 800 has been my go-to track workout since about 2009. It’s a classic.0602150648aMy times: 3:10; 3:13; 3:12; 3:12; 3:14; 3:14; 3:16. I got a tad slower toward the end, but am pretty pleased with the results. I did this same workout almost exactly a year ago and came in at 3:20-3:24 per rep. Let’s hope my speedier 2015 self shows up for race day, too!

Speaking of improvements, Anthony and I headed back to Hai Woon Dai and it was even better than last timehai_woon_dai_nashville_DSC0057I love the little random bowls of unidentifiable appetizer things that they give you at Korean restaurants. I thought most of them tasted pretty weird (like the “fish paste”) but it was fun to try them anyways :)

Are you an adventurous eater? I’ll try pretty much anything unless it involves peppermint. For some reason I’ve never been a big peppermint fan — even when it comes to toothpaste! Spearmint and cinnamon all the way. In case anyone was wondering.hai woon dai korean food review -- antioch nashville tnFor the main event, Anthony and I kept it classic (just like I do with track workouts apparently). Bulgogi and bibimbap! hai woon dai korean food review -- antioch nashville tnhai woon dai korean food review -- antioch nashville tnBoth dishes were super spicy and delicious. We had to order some cold beers to keep the heat down. Fun date night!

And now it’s time to go do the work thing. Tonight we’re joining some friends for trivia so my goal for the day is to learn everything possible.

  • Are you good at trivia?
  • Are you an adventurous eater?
  • Are you racing this weekend?

  1. We used to go to trivia every week and it was so much fun! It got suuuuper popular though and the normal fun crowd disappeared. Oh well! I’m afraid I’m not a very adventurous eater! I tend to stick to what I know! I did try all those little appetizer thingies when I went to Korean BBQ once. That was enough for me 😉

  2. I’m not a very adventurous eater. If it looks creamy or slimy and I don’t know what’s in it, the texture grosses me out
