hot food, cold weather

Happy Fourth of July! We are at my parents’ lake house hoping for better weather :)0704150829aRain or shine, we’re still determined to have fun!

Rewinding to Thursday night — Anthony and I kicked off the weekend a little early with a little home-based fiesta. Anthony is on a hot sauce kick lately: this habanero tabasco is one of his favorites! tabasco_and_cholula_hot_sauce_DSC0127We kept the heat coming with spicy Peruvian chicken that Anthony crisped up on the grill. Yum. peruvian_chicken_with_black_beans_DSC0133With so much spice, we needed some cold beer to wash everything down. peruvian_chicken_with_black_beans_DSC0130On Friday, we were up bright and early for a run! Katie met us at 6 am to squeeze in some miles before the rain hit.0703150601We started at Bongo Java East:0703150601aand made our way to Bongo Java West!0703150644It never rained on us, but the humidity was REAL. Grey shirt was probably not the best choice for my sweat-soaked self. Thanks for the run, Katie!0703150647During the last couple miles, we even got a few rays of sunshine. 0703150713Long run, done!0703150740bAfter our run, we made our way to the lake to meet up with my whole fam. I’m adding on another mile to my weekly total after some serious family foot races.20150703_170243We spent the rest of the day playing dress-up and reading books inside, since it never warmed up enough to get out on the boat. The day drifted on by and then it was taco time! (FYI Anthony and I never get sick of Mexican food)
We ate dinner around 9 pm because we’re on lake time. And slept in until 8 am because we’re on vacation! :)

Have a good holiday weekend!

  • What are you doing for the 4th?
  • Did you do a long run this weekend?
  • What type of food do you never get sick of?

  1. I think I need your chicken recipe… does it taste anything like Super Pollo in Arlington? :)

  2. This is the first year that we don’t have any big plans for the 4th and I’m so glad!! We’ll probably just watch the Brentwood fireworks and take it easy.
I started training for NYC this morning by pacing a 12 mile run for FF.
I will never get tired of Mexican food!
