tough run, easy dinner

Hello! I’m about to kick off track Tuesday, but first I’m writing this post extra early to talk about Monday. Yesterday’s run almost didn’t happen after we overslept by about 45 minutes… but I somehow managed to get myself together and get out the door in time!0720150721And by in time, I mean about 7:00 am. Which is early enough to get me to work on time, but too late to avoid the heat! I just kept chugging along and tried to nix those negative thoughts from my head. 0720150719I was doing pretty well until about mile five, when I had to climb the Hill of Death out of Shelby Park and just wanted to start walking.0720150736 Unfortunately/Fortunately I knew that wasn’t an option since I had to get home ASAP, though! So I pushed on and finished all seven miles. Tough but done. The end.

On the plus side, everything else yesterday seemed really easy in comparison. Especially dinner!honey citrus grilled chicken with grilled corn and peach-cucumber salsaWe made a simple summer meal last night — citrus/soy-grilled chicken and grilled corn, plus a peach-cucumber salsa. So fresh!honey citrus grilled chicken with grilled corn and peach-cucumber salsaThe chicken was tangy-sweet and smoky.honey citrus grilled chicken with grilled corn and peach-cucumber salsaAnd hot, if you’re one of those people who put hot sauce on everything! • Do you put hot sauce on everything?
  • Last tough run you had?
  • Locals: what is your go-to hill preference to get out of Shelby Park?

  1. I love hot sauce, but it definitely only fits on some things. These runs have all been tough the last couple of weeks with all the heat and humidity.

  2. That Shelby hill brutal! I do my hill work in pwp. It never gets easier!
My last tough run was on the track today. It was so hot and my legs were not wanting to move quickly.
