two for one.

1001150622This morning (above) and yesterday morning (below) were both looking pretty grey. But I still got out there.0930150641bYesterday I met up with East Nasty for the usual Wednesday outing. Since they had a longer route on the menu and were heading into the city, I thought it’d be a nice change of scenery. I’ve been doing a LOT of East Nashville running lately —  100+ miles in the past few weeks, now that I think of it — so it was nice to head Out West.

We checked in on the famous naked statue. Looking good, guys.0930150631On the way back I was dreading the steep incline of the pedestrian street bridge — but then we spotted this group of lime green runners and I got my motivation back! Apparently they were in town for some conference and had a group run on the agenda for the morning. Go team!0930150642I spent most of the miles running with an East Nasty member named Evan, who has his first ultra marathon this weekend! If you’re reading this: Good luck, Evan! And thanks for pushing the pace on me.0930150703As for today, I had another buddy to run with! In these final weeks of training, I need all the support I can get. Katie and I met up for some dark miles. I miss the sunny days of summer :(1001150615One thing we talked about on our run: How many days in a row do you run at once? Katie usually does 2-3 days and I’m more in the 4-5 range. I have other friends that can run 6-7 days straight without getting injured (or perhaps worse, bored), but then I have friends that get injured if they don’t take a rest/cross-training day after 2 days of running. I think 5 days in a row of running is my personal max. What about you?

In other news: Halloween is coming! These spiderweb lights made me happy. 1001150621Though all of the actual spiderwebs I’ve been running through lately have NOT been okay. Look at this monstrosity that I walked right through the other morning! The photo doesn’t really do it justice, but the spider was half the size of my hand and its web was bigger than my body. Ew.1443263250023_3.temp (1)Anyways, there’s your two-for-one run recap! And now it’s time for two-for-one margaritas.margarita at st. anejo nashville the gulchI met up with my friend Heidi last night for a girls’ happy hour! St. Anejo is the spot.st. anejo nashville the gulchTheir two-for-one drink special and half price tacos are too good to turn down on a dreary Wednesday. We shared these hot chicken tacos. Yes, that’s right: hot chicken, in a taco. Brilliance!hot chicken tacos at st anejo nashville the gulchAnother fun dining adventure coming up tonight! Can’t wait to tell you all about it tomorrow. Let’s hope for some sunshine, too!

  • Locals: Best happy hour spot?
  • Scariest bug/insect? I don’t love spiders but I REALLY don’t like things that jump or fly.
  • How many days in a row do you usually run?

  1. The spiders have been out in full force here, so disgusting and creepy feeling when I run through them. I can usually hit about 3-4 days in a row without feeling like my legs need a rest day. It depends on the mileage though.

  2. Best of luck!
I hate spiders because they leave the worst bites on me.
I can run about 5 days a week; 6 days leaves me burnt out and even worse, at high risk of injury. If I really take care of my body, I can do 6, but no more than a few months.

  3. During my marathon training, I run 4 days a week, and usually that’s been three days in a row of running (so I can get used to running on fatigued legs), and then an off day before my Saturday long run. But there have been a few instances of 4 or 5 days in a row, but that usually ends with my long run and the need to give my body a break.

  4. I would have had a heart attack if I ran through that spider web. I too only max out at 5 days per week. Those tacos and margaritas look delicious.

  5. I hate misquitoes. The stupid little buggers have the nerve to bite me WHILE I am running AND wearing bugspray. And the ones this past week have given really itchy bites.

I usually do 2 or 3 days running in a row then take a rest day. I think my max would be 4, unless they are all shortish runs. After my 20 miler Wednesday, I needed Thursday and Friday off. But that means today’s run here in Chattanooga is going to be soggy!
