zoned out, simmered down

Hi.20160601_060650I was up bright and early today to meet Lizzie for a run! We covered a couple of miles together before I dropped her off and continued on. The next time I’ll see her is in 10 days at her wedding!! YAY20160601_061254Anyways, back to this run. I was sore from head to toe thanks to a boot camp workout yesterday at the Y. Those Tuesday classes are killer. I almost sat down in these lovely chairs on Porter Road and called it quits 😉20160601_055130By mile 5 I kinda found my groove and by mile 6 I was finished. Thirty minutes later and I still haven’t quite woken up so the whole thing is a blur. But it’s a beautiful day.20160601_060341How often do you totally zone out on your runs? I would say I have at least one run per week that totally flies by in a weird autopilot way. Today’s was one of those.

Speaking of autopilot, have I told you how much I love my slow cooker? It’s been going nonstop for the past few days. Our most recent slow cooker creation: pasta sauce and meatballs!_DSC0011-002Tina (my mother-in-law) and I prepped most of the ingredients for this meal on Monday so all we had to do yesterday was dump everything in the slow cooker yesterday morning. Ten hours later, dinner was served!_DSC0009The sauce lineup is pretty simple: Diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, onion, garlic, and herbs (oregano, parsley, salt, pepper, and a pinch of sugar). The secret ingredients: A rind of Parmesan, a splash of red wine, and a pork rib. _DSC0013 Simmer all day and serve with wine :)

The word simmer will always remind me of this clip. Hope it brings a smile to your face!
