minutes per mile blog

weekend food + fitness

Greetings! How’s the start of your week going so far? Mine kicked off with a run:

Three and a half quick miles for the day! My feet were dragging a little after a late night (aka past 8:30 pm) involving House of Cards. This season is so good!

When we weren’t binge-watching or babysitting this weekend, we did get outside! It was hot but sunny and cool enough for some morning runs.

I broke out my new Sauconys!

This beautiful blue color was on sale for only $50 at Running Warehouse. I consistently find that Running Warehouse, Amazon, and 6pm.com have the lowest running shoe prices BTW. I always order old versions (for example, these are Kinvara 7s, not 8s) to save even more cash. I figure the less I spend on shoes, the more I can spend on race registrations :) #runningonthecheap

Weekend eats revolved around the grill! We are back on the CookSmarts bandwagon and I’m loving their summer recipes. Here’s some fancy cornmeal-crusted flounder with a poblano/corn salsa. Grilled plantains on the side — a favorite food I discovered during my 10-day elimination diet!

And a long-time favorite: chicken fajitas. Sides of La Croix and sleeping baby.

And here’s a cobb salad eaten on the bed with a side of awake baby! These days my dining table extends to the floor, the bed, the couch, and the play mat. :)

Off to enjoy a summer day, followed by another evening with the Underwoods I’m sure!

  1. Your weekend sounds a lot like mine…running, eating good food with a side of baby (or in my case, toddler…my son is 17 months), and soaking up as much fun in the sun as possible! Summer is just the best! Enjoy :)
