I’m back!

Hello, friends! I’m back :)

You might have recalled from my last post that Alice was having some eating issues that required her to have a feeding tube. After a challenging few months, I’m so happy to report that she is now an independent eater! Thanks to the wonderful team at Spectrum Pediatrics, we’ve been able to enjoy a tube-free life for the past couple of weeks. It’s been transformational for our family. I think I’ll finally have time to blog again!

I’m not even sure where to start this post after a four-month hiatus. So let’s just jump right into a cheeseburger.

Perfect post-race meal. On Sunday I ran the Marine Corps Marathon! I didn’t really train for this race and am proud that I shuffled my way to the finish :). Full recap coming soon!

Other than those two big events (well, three if you count the cheeseburger), life here has been pretty much the same as usual. Lots of Cook Smarts meals, running around Ashburn, bread making, re-watching all seasons of The Office, and figuring out the new mom thing. I also developed an obsession with bagels, Wegman’s grocery store, and Stitch Fix. Why did it take me so long to discover these wonderful things?!

I’ll try to pop back in tomorrow or the next day to say hello again. I’m a little rusty, so bear with me as I get back into blogging! If there’s anything you want to hear about in particular, let me know in the comments section. Talk soon!

  1. Yay! Glad you are back! As a fellow new mom, I’d love to see you post about when and how you fit in running to your new daily routine, and anything else you’re willing to share about motherhood. Welcome back!

    • thanks! daily routine, ha! every day is totally unpredictable, but yes i try to maintain some sort of schedule. i’ll be sure to do a post on it!

  2. So glad you are back to blogging! I love reading about your life and the interesting dishes you make. So glad to hear Alice is doing well too! I look forward to seeing more blogs in the near future.

  3. Yay! I’m so happy for you and your adorable (and healthfully chubby! hooray!!) Alice! I’m just so relieved– I was worried about you all. Can’t wait to again live vicariously through your reports on your move back to DC and get ideas from what’s on your lovely dining table. :)

  4. Hey there – so glad to see you are back blogging. I am a big fan from Australia. :)

I am also a new mum, 6 month old baby girl, and a runner and would love to see how you fit it all in. I am considering a marathon (next June) and would love to hear your thoughts on this.

So good to hear your little one is better. x

    • thank you! we are going to australia in feb and i can’t wait to visit again. you should do the marathon! i’ll be sure to write a post about how i did (or more like did not, haha) find time to train for mine.

  5. Welcome back! Been loving your blog and missing the updates. Little Alice is absolutely gorgeous! Look forward to hearing how you’ve been getting on. Waves from a fellow runner and mother of three girls in Dublin, Ireland. :-)

  6. Welcome back Mary! Been missing the updates. Little Alice is absolutely gorgeous! Look forward to hearing how you’ve been getting on. Waves from a fellow runner and mother of three girls in Dublin, Ireland. :-)

  7. A lot of happy after a lot of hard work! welcome back! I used to love Wegman’s when I loved in the Northeast.

  8. Glad to see you’re back and glad Alice is doing well! Looking forward to all your running/mommy/food posts, especially now that I’m a mommy to a one week old little boy!

  9. Fabulous! Tracee and Tony Perrin have kept me updated. This is wonderful news! Congratulations all around!

  10. Congrats on the marathon and your new post-baby PR! It’s such an achievement just getting out there!

Also- Stitch fix and the first year with baby = best combo ever. I vaguely remember shopping for clothes, but I’m not sure when I’ll be able to do that again.

    • yes! shopping in person is such a hassle with a baby. total waste of time. stitch fix is so fun, and way worth it! agree 100%

  11. How did you find time to run a marathon? I’m beyond impressed. So glad that Alice is doing well – must have been such a stressful few months. You are such a trooper! I also love Wegman’s – they don’t have them out here but my parents had one super close to their old house.

    • i think it was mostly just trading sleep for running, which probably wasn’t a good idea! ha. wegman’s is great, and always has the ingredients i need for my cook smarting adventures :)

  12. So glad to see you back -and to learn that the NG is no longer required. It’s a weird mix of “yay, this helps nourish my baby!” and “boo, these things are a pain in the you know what!” Can’t wait to read more.
