grey day + pretty in pink

Greetings! How was your weekend? Ours was a little grey but I got outside anyways.

Nice to not have a long run on my calendar for a while! On Sunday I set out for five miles but then only felt like doing four. Although I love the structure of training in preparation for a race, it’s nice to just wing it for a few weeks after you cross the finish line. How do you usually feel after a race? Post-race blues, or post-race bliss?

After I broke up with Brooks (read my soul-searching shoe journey after the discontinuation of the Brooks PureConnects) and ran with Saucony for a while, I jumped back on the Brooks bandwagon for a change. The Brooks Neuro 2 were too tempting to pass up! I’ve only run in them a few times — there was no way I was going to break out a new pair of shoes before my marathon last weekend — but am liking them so far. Very similar to the PureConnects, though a bit heavier (8.5 oz vs 6.8 oz) and with a steeper drop (6 mm vs 4.3 mm). I’ll keep you posted on further findings!

Another new, and also PINK, favorite of late are these leggings that Stitch Fix sent me. I never thought I’d wear colored leggings (grey is about as adventurous as I’ve gone in the past), but I tried them on and loved them! They are super comfortable. Made by a brand called Beyond Yoga, which I’d never heard of but am now obsessed with. I was getting so tired of all my usual “athleisure” brands like Athleta, GapFit, Nike, etc. — so happy to have some fresh new styles in my growing wardrobe of “these are basically pajamas but acceptable to wear in public” garments.

Speaking of pajamas, that’s how we spent Friday night. Takeout from Thai Ashburn and a couple episodes of The Office! Perfect evening. I think I was asleep by 9 p.m.
